Welford & Sulby Historical Society
Welford and Sulby Historical Society logo of the village water pump
Welford and Sulby Historical Society was formed in 2018 following a well-received exhibition of the drawings, maps and photographs of the late John Haynes.
The society meets monthly in the village hall to share questions, insights and artefacts on the history of our villages, from Roman Britain to present day. Membership is £1 per meeting.
Our current projects include:
Oral history – recording recollections of villagers for future generations
VE Day anniversary exhibition – postponed
Canal Festival exhibition - postponed
Wells – mapping and filming of the many wells and pumps in Welford
Electronic archive of Bugles – scanning and making available most copies of the Welford Bugle.
Guest speakers – Harborough Filmmakers and Lutterworth Field Walkers are intended guests at future monthly meetings.
We also have a very active Facebook group page: https://www.facebook.com/groups/211760366142688/?ref=bookmarks
